The summer is almost over, but there are still fun activities for the whole family at the county’s nature centers during the month of August.

The Green Cay Nature Center in Boynton Beach is offering an ethnobotany session for all ages on Saturday, Aug. 1 at 2 p. m. Visitors can learn about Florida’s native plants and the uses they have provided cultures, from past to present.

Join staff at Daggerwing Nature Center in western Boca Raton for “Animal Encounters” on Saturday, Aug. 22 at 2 p.m. when participants can learn about mammals in South Florida and get a chance to meet the resident skunk.

Did you know there are whitetail deer living near the Okeeheelee Nature Center in West Palm Beach? Visitors can join staff on deer walks to get close-up photographs of the herd.

For a complete list of current programs at all three nature centers, visit www.pbcparks.com/parks or call 966-6600.
